​Core Business Australia was established in 2011 and took over the Western Australian operations of an Australian Management Group which was established in 1995. The Western Australian operations commenced in 2004 when the founding Directors of the Management Group delivered the Victorian STEP Program to the City of Stirling.

There was much interest in the STEP Program and following an IPWEA Asset Management Forum, it was decided to tailor the STEP Program to the needs of Western Australian local governments and roll out the program on a State-wide basis. 

As the Management Group expanded nationally, so did the diversity of work in Western Australia and in 2007 Bruce became the Managing Director of the Western Australian operations.

In 2011 Bruce established Core Business Australia, sold his interest in the Management Group and purchased the WA operations from the group in order to provide a greater local focus and assist local governments to comply with the DLG's Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework and support rural and remote West Australian Local Governments and communities.
